My name is Lady Ocean and I am a 22 year old patient myself of a rare cancer type who was originally diagnosed at age 19. While going through chemotherapy and radiation for the past three years, I thought most about what I would have wanted during treatment and after, and that was a place of safety and comfort where I could meet and talk and relate to other kids my age rather than just seeing them once in a while in and out of the hospital.
I've always wanted create a center or a home style building that is used as a wellness center for young adults with cancer. It would like to provide things like yoga, mediation, aromatherapy, art and other activities where patients can connect. A place where patients can have fun together and help each other towards healing emotionally, mentally, and physically. We will provide things like movie nights, cooking nights, entertainment and game nights in a different way, as a new generation version of looking at your typical ‘support group’. Cancer causes extreme isolation in most cases from other family and friends and this will be a place of comfort in a home like environment for coping, and healing for all patients.
